Thank you for your support
Thank you for your support
We can't even imagine driving the distance let alone cycling 120 miles a day, mad, mad, mad. You will be helping to make a difference to the lives of many patients in both Cameroon and The Gambia. We are very proud of you.
£100.00
Blinding effort old sausage. Sorry I never scored you any fundraising for your last JOGLE thing. To make up for it, i'll see you £50 of sponsorship
See you on the other side in Newquay!
Although I am putting myself through a pretty tough 7 days, that simply isn't enough!
As such, i'm also going to lighten my wallet to the tune of £50...
Hopefully my pledge will inspire those of you that make it to this page to donate as well...
Thanks again
Good Luck Laurence! xx
Good luck! I hope this donation makes us even for your bike getting nicked at my house! xx
Laurence, we wish you well with your journey in helping some of the most vulnerable people in the world. All good wishes from all the members of the Barnwell Friendly Club, Northamptonshire. Good luck. £145.00

Well the BIG day finally arrived.
Dropping you off at Kettering station was pretty emotional.
We're so proud of you, have a great week.
Mum and Dad
Good Luck Laurence - will be following your progress with interest. Hope the weather is good for you - not this awful wind & rain. Safe journey!
You are totally mad but it's genetic so you can't help it!! We know you will do it so here's to a fair wind BEHIND you. We will be giving £50 to your Mum.
Laurence, you are working so hard just to help the Bansang hospital, this is very kind of you. Please remember that I am also offering you my prayers and with God's will you will surely make it to next Sunday and arrive home safely. Thank you so much once again and may God bless you and reward you for your kindness.
Love Mariama Sowe, The Gambia.
What your doing is amazing but very tough and challenging, the main thing is to look after yourself throughout ..
Good luck and the very best wishes... we are all with you whatever the outcome ... :-)
Hope you're getting better weather now Laurence. Thinking of you & hoping all is going really well. Each day nearer your goal!!!
Weather is poor tomorrow - head wind and rain all day. Take the day off you and put your feet up, you deserve it.
Have asked Kenneth to make a donation. Your little flags seem to be heading in the right direction so that's a good start... Think you should be eating regional food as you go, so hope you have done haggis and black pudding. xxxC
Hey Laurence,
You have done very well. I know whole Bansang is proud of you. I pray God be with you.
Good luck.
Laurence we are all very proud of your intentions for Bansang hospital.God bless you.
Demba Bah, Bansang hospital, The Gambia.
Weather report for London: in one word, gorgeous. Blue sky, sunshine. Will go browse Borough Market for lunch treat v soon, as soon as the phone stops ringing with LCtS ticket orders. Wish you were here
More wind today I see - not a good choice of dates for the Scotland leg! Forecast is much better beyond today so it should get a bit easier. Certainly hope so for you. All good wishes for a safe, enjoyable (?) and successful journey.
All in a very good cause.
We can't believe you're still going in that weather!! Fingers crossed it will get better as you move south. Next time (!)maybe you should try a sponsored swim- just as wet.
I think that this is a wonderful effort.
Prof Peter Hessling,

I hope you are now cycling into much better weather Laurence. From your photo this morning it looks horrendous. It can only get better. Keep pedalling!!!!
Well done!Keep going the weather IS going to improve!!£50 on it's way x
Hope the weather improves for you tomorrow ,Laurence ,and the sun shines so that you can be as happy as the wonderful children you will help in Bansang and Cameroon
This message is for the lovely Lady, Carole Seeth, thank you for taking in our bedraggled Boy. Don't spoil him though, marshmallows in his hot chocolate...whatever next. One day we will make it as far as "BOBBIN'S", on 4 wheels though. Thank you.
Steve and Anita
It is really good to be able to follow you along the way. Unless the bike gives out I am sure you will make it! Congratulations on your achievement so far.
All the best,

We are in awe at your physical strength, immense tenacity, and humanitarian vision. Your mother is right, you are mad, but we admire you and thank you.
Peter McCormick.
Hey Laurence, nice news: saw Robert Hart last night (Comrades meeting): he and Georgie just got engaged. Proposed at the top of a mountain (cliff?) in the Isle of Wight. Are considering getting married in S Africa before / after the race.
Don't go proposing to any nice young ladies during your bike ride. They might take you up on it
xC
Hi Laurence - Hopefully you've had better weather today. enjoying seeing your pics - liked the one of the Commando statue - have seen that for myself - beautiful up there - if the weather's good!!!
Weather's due to stay good for the rest of the week - so the closer down here you get, the better.
Hi Laurence Iam thinking of you all the time grandad would have been very proud of you,as I am. I hope the weather gets better now you are in England I will be donating 50 pounds to your fund luv you lots Nan xxx
Hope all is still going well - at least the weather's being kinder to you. Each day is nearer your goal. Keep those legs going!
Hi Laurence
What a sterling effort - you are doing extremely well. Keep up the good work.
Hi Laurence
You may recall we travelled up by train from Edinburgh to Inverness, on Friday 4 September, on your way to John O Groats. Looks like you still have a way to go, but best wishes for the final push.
I have made a donation through your website, which I hope will help to bring you closer to your target.
Best Wishes
Keith
I am so proud of you Laurence, but also realise madness runs in the family. Always remember the summer holidays spent in a tent in the back garden but think you could come inside now, you have made your point! Have forwarded on your email and hope you get some response, and have donated £20.00 myself.Your brilliant and if Grant does have a picnic at the side of the road just ignore him.Love and hugs xx Linda
Thank you to everyone that's been sending messages of support. I get the email notifications every evening-and they make for good reading after hours spent in the saddle!
Hopefully only 3more days to go (though i'm still only using my left leg for powering up hills-as my right knee is still not upto scratch!).
Will be in touch when i've completed the ride.
Thanks again
Not long now lump!! The worse bit is over and done with.. your on the home straight!! Take care and cycle safetly
big kiss
big sis xx
It's your Mother, the mad one! Not the other one!!! (thank you to all my so called Friends). You told me your knee was much better!! now who's the MAD ONE. Please listen to your body, can't afford not to send all the crutches out on the container a week on Saturday, besides need you to help. Look after yourself for that final push and don't bugger up your other knee. x x x x x
Not long now Laurence - and what wonderful weather for you - that will do your gammy knee good to get some heat on it!!! Sounds like your Mum is arranging some hard work for you!!!!!!!! Will be a piece of cake after this! Take care.
Hi Laurence
I've been following your photos all week it looks as though the first few days were some-what challenging but it must be great to have two wheels under you and open road ahead of you!
Shame about the punctures, bike tyre manufacturers are all the same they all claim to have made them puncture resistant but they rarely are. Funny how it's always the rear tyre that goes. It's also the time of year for hedge trimming so watch out for the debris.
Glad to see you're getting a good mix of carbs and protein in your diet, any caffeine in there to keep you awake? I always find an espresso (or two) helps before a big ride!
Keep those cranks turning the weather's looking good and you might even be in for a tail wind over the next few days! Always a cyclists friend. Rumour has it you're cycling back from LE at the end of it!
Great progress in the last couple of days, well done. Sorry I won't be able to follow you to the end - we're off to Canada on Saturday. Glad to see your lunch pix - was worried you might be wasting away.
xx C and enjoy LE. Think you'll need a wee swim after all that
Well done! A fantastic way to raise some money, I've just donated some money to add to your pot. You don't know me, but I know of you! Good luck to reach the end.
Hi there. Can't believe you have cycled so far with one knee out of action. Watching you all the way. At least the sun is shining. Take care....
Well - almost there Laurence - you must be feeling pretty elated as well as shattered!!! Treat yourself to a couple of days in a luxury hotel when you reach LE - I'm sure Mum & Dad will pay for it!!! Well done!
Just to say - am soooo impressed with what you have achieved I've sent some more to your funds!!! Well done.
Well done Laurence! Nearly there now. hope your knee is bearing up. Lucy x
Hey chicken!!!!!! Your doing so well...I am with Grant having the picnic on the side of the road waving you on !!! LOL
Will see you soon I am sure.
Big hugs xxx
Hey Lolly, hope you're enjoying yourself, you're doing extremely well. Safe journey back home again. Lots of love, us. xx
I am exhausted just thinking about what you are doing AND with a bad knee!! If you need a stick when you get back I have a collection but then thinking about it your Mummy has probably got a container full! Well Done. xx
With our love and very best wishes, absolutely amazing achievment. Look forward to seeing you on your return.
Chrissie and Stuart x x £20.00 given to your Mum.
Our thoughts are with you on what should be the final day of your amazing journey in just 7 days! Incredible effort and achievment. Take it steady!! Lots of love Mum and Dad x x
Well done to Kez (JoGLE 07 partner) for meeting up with you and relieving you of all of the excess gear on your bike. It must be great riding a 'racing bike' rather than a 'pack horse' for the first time on this challenge.
ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY MILES IN ONE DAY, SERIOUSLY MAD, you could be the first member of the family to be certified as being M A D!!! Thinking of you, worrying as only a Mum does until you're home. Tremendous test of endurance. Worries me what follows!!!!!!
You have just hit the £2,500, Wonderful.
I hear your having a tough day, make sure you have a good nights sleep and the last stretch will be easy!! I'll treat you when you've finished to an all expenses paid trip to LEGOLAND!! ;-) What an incentive!!
Big love bro!
sister sledge x
Hi. So near yet so far. Hope you get the bike sorted tomorrow for one final push. Carole has sponsorship form up now in Bobbins so will get the cash to you later. Nearly there. x
Hey bro - WELL DONE - almost to the end of the country! You can have a good swim and wash in the ocean....! You must have seen some sights! See you soon and happy recovery, x
Well done mate.
Nearly there! Dont let a few spokes get in the way of completing your mission!!
What a grand task, you must be proud of yourself. x
Devastating news about the latest spoke failure, however don't let this set back get in the way of completing this remarkable challenge.
So get the bike fixed at Moor cycles, peddle 97 miles to Lands End, jump in the sea, then get back to Truro to meet up with your taxi home, the lovely Gwyn.
All to be completed on Monday the 14th September, no problem!
thinking of you much of last evening, until my legs got too tired. Well done Laurence, in spite of being spooked by spokes!
watching your every move I have been with you every peddle of the way luv you Nan xxx
Go for it Laurence, nearly at Lands End, holding our breath until we hear from you Lots of love from your proud Mum and Dad. x x
Congratulations and very well done. You are definitely the man who gets things done big time.
well done Laurence. When are you going to do it again on a more reliable bike. see you soon luv Nan
Well done Laurence great effort.
I guess I'll have to make do with following the Tour of Britain instead of your tour of Britain now you've finished.
Well done again.
Would have thought you would have combed your hair for the final photo at Land's End!
Well done Laurence. At least we gave you a few days decent weather in the south west to finish. However don't let Steve have anything to do with building you a bike. Tell him to concentrate on selling shoes! Donation sent.
Fantastic, thrilled that you made it all the way on your troublesome bike, you've always liked a challenge. Loved the final photo at at Lands End, wonderful achievment, look forward to seeing a picture of you with Gwyn, what a star putting you up, having never met you and driving you home to Orlingbury, especially as she is trying to pack for her holiday. What do you fancy for dinner?
Congratulations Laurence - what tremendous effort for the two charities you were cycling for. Hope you are not too sore!
Hey - many congrats Laurence- what a magnificent achievement. Is it true that your Mum's tackling it with you next time?!!!!!!!
Laurence..
Many, many congratulations on your achievement.. brilliant.. :-) You have done really well to ride the bike on such a long distance.. Make sure you get plenty of rest now..
Of course you did it! We knew you would, you are your parents' son. Very well done and a fantastic achievement. We hope the money pours in. You see, people take the p**s out of anything over 35 years old, so that makes most of your sponsors feel very, very good!
Lots of pictures of Mer Maj waiting for you.
D2
Well done. Great feat. Keep in touch!
Smithy!
Fantastic achievement, amazing effort, but I expected nothing less!
My donation of £25.00 does seem pale in its significance, but every little helps towards these amazing charities!
Will hopefully catch you soon
Dr B
Hello mate, glad to hear you finished the next day! I finished on Monday as planned in 9 days, couldn't have done 7 though! All the best, Dan (shared a room at Okehampton YHA)
Hi Laurence
Been in USA so only now catching up on your progress. Very well done. I cycled 600 miles this summer through France in 8 days (also raising money but for our work with deaf children in The Gambia) so am really impressed that you did more than 800 miles in less time (even if you are somewhat younger!).
Very well done. Pass my regards to you mother - I hope to see her again (and you perhaps?) in Gambia some time.
Congratulations and Best wishes
Malcolm
For this matter, once I discussed with one of my friends, not only about the content you talked about, but also to how to improve and develop, but no results. So I am deeply moved by what you said today.
